FORTIFIED Roof™
certified in Baton Rouge.

FORTIFIED is a voluntary construction standard from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety, built on two decades of full-scale wind and rain testing. It re-engineers a roof at the four points where roofs actually fail in a hurricane — and FCB is now credentialed to build them.

Credentialed Contractor

The designation isn’t something we hand out. Every FORTIFIED roof is documented during construction and signed off by an independent IBHS-credentialed evaluator — then issued by IBHS.

01 — DECK

Sealed Roof Deck

Every deck seam is taped or fully sealed. If the wind takes your shingles, water still can’t get into the house — which is where most of the real damage bill comes from.

02 — FASTENING

Enhanced Nailing

Ring-shank nails on a tighter pattern, so the deck stays attached to the rafters under uplift instead of peeling off in sheets.

03 — EDGES

Locked-Down Edges

Upgraded drip edge and starter strips, fastened to spec. The edge is where wind gets its first grip on a roof — so that’s where the standard is strictest.

04 — COVERING

Rated Shingles & Vents

Impact- and pressure-rated coverings and vents, installed to the manufacturer’s high-wind specification, not just the minimum.

Custom sheet metal fabrication

We don’t order the metal.
We make it.

Most roofers order stock trim and hope it fits. We run a sheet metal shop on South Choctaw Drive. Standing seam panels, copper chimney caps, valleys and awnings are cut and brake-formed to the dimensions we measured on your roof — so the fit is right the first time.

How a job runs

Four steps, in this order,
every single time.

STEP 01

Inspection

Often same-day. We photograph shingles, flashing and ventilation and document what we actually find.

STEP 02

Proposal

A written, itemized scope with the price and the timeline in it. No hidden fees, financing available.

STEP 03

Install

Our own crew, not a subcontractor. Most standard Baton Rouge homes finish in one to two days.

STEP 04

Final Cleanup & Sign-Off

Magnetic nail sweep, debris hauled, driveway clear — then a walkthrough with you before we leave.

Straight answers

Questions we get
every week.

Are you fully licensed and insured in Louisiana?

Yes. FCB Roofing & Sheet Metal is a fully licensed Louisiana contractor (State License #6381) and we carry comprehensive General Liability and Workers' Compensation insurance on every project — so both our crew and your property are protected for the full duration of the job.

What is a FORTIFIED roof, and is it worth it?

FORTIFIED is a construction standard from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety that strengthens a roof at four failure points: a sealed deck, ring-shank nailing, locked-down edges, and rated coverings. It costs more than a standard replacement, but in Louisiana it can also qualify a home for insurance premium discounts and state incentive programs. Ask us and your insurance agent what applies to your home.

Can you repair a leak without replacing the whole roof?

Usually. Many leaks come from a failing pipe boot, damaged flashing, or a handful of loose shingles. If the roof still has structural integrity, we’ll recommend the targeted repair that extends its life rather than the expensive replacement. Honest assessment first, always.

Will you work with my insurance company on a storm claim?

Yes. We’re your contractor, not your adjuster — but we act as your technical advocate. We provide detailed, itemized inspection reports documenting exactly what damage occurred, so your carrier has the facts it needs to process the claim fairly.

How long does a full roof replacement take?

For most standard Baton Rouge homes, one to two days. Our crews are specialized and we work fast but precise, to minimize the time your home is exposed. Every job ends with a meticulous debris sweep of the driveway and yard.

Do you offer financing?

We do. Several flexible plans with competitive rates and low monthly payments, so a new roof or custom metal installation doesn’t have to become a financial burden.
